For two of these artists, June is the most important day for three reasons:

1. It's #BlackMusicMonth, a day that was created by Kenny Gamble and Ed Wright and declared by former president Jimmy Carter in 1979. (No, it was not donald trump.)
2. The day of it's release is Autistic Pride Day.
3. Both of the above facts provides an opportunity to make people of color, especially black people, known within the autistic community.

Coined by Kayla Smith, #AutisticBlackPride offers to bust up the whitewashing of the Autistic community and demands that there be room for representation for other colors. To celebrate this very day, two black artists on the Autism Spectrum release a split: mynameisblueskye and Savan DePaul.

While both artists operate within the genre of afrofuturism, Savan DePaul is a producer, rapper and singer-songwriter whose music has run the gamut from avant-garde hip hop to digital funk. Think Subtitle, Dam-Funk or Thavius Beck.

mynameisblueskye is a singer, songwriter and producer whos music runs the gamut between bedroom pop and experimental R&B, but with a scope as futuristic as it is folky in places. He makes beats and composes music underneath a beat name blank videotapes.

Together, they join forces not only to retintroduce themselves to the public looking for different music, but to celebrate #AutisticBlackPride through said reintroduction. Welcome aboard. I hope you like what you hear. :-)
