about

To say that I had different plans for this song than to just release it here naked would be a hell of an understatement.

I had a whole album idea built around this track and the song title, and it was inspired by the fact that black people have gained an unbearable amount of death anxiety from when George Zimmerman (fuck him forever!) got off killing Trayvon Martin to realizing that we have uncompromisingly open Nazis and White supremacists not only in the police force, but in our hospitals, our schools, OUR GOVERNMENT! The hardest thing was for us to have any bit of hope that our livelihood would be respected and valued at all. The song title was supposed to be an ending to an album about trying to face or overcome death anxiety, whether or not it was possible to do so in this day and age and the overall internal static that comes with living in a world, not even just a whole fucking country, that doesn't see you as worthy of the same respect they give themselves.

I actually wrote this song with the idea that people like me really only get valued by close families as your black friends, as minimal as they might be, don't call you or show your actual value to them and you have to side eye everyone else. "Diary of a Pretty Corpse" is about feeling like a black life that doesn't really get his due in the world until he was dead, and when he does die by the hand of cruel people, they get the audacity to rule it as something dark as a suicide.

Again, I was going to hold this and make it a bonus track off of one of my promised TWO new upcoming albums, but seeing as how there is still a dripping influx of police murders, manslaughters and hospital mishaps still happening to black people (ATOP of more gaslighting from the same folks of "light"), I figured that maybe now is a good time to just release the song,

I don't know whether this song is soothing to you at all, but I hope you enjoy it regardless.
